FAQ

Q: Why is there such a variation in the cost of piano transportation between piano moving companies and why do other company's quotes differ every time I get a quotation?
A.: All companies have different overheads, some just guess a price depending on how busy they are at the time. Our quotes are all computer generated based on the information given. All our costs are based on how long it takes to complete a job. We tend to buy the best equipment and pay our staff more than other companies. We believe the customer receives better service this way and if you are going to do a job do it well.
Q: Are your staff security vetted?
A.: Yes our staff undergo strict security checks for deliveries to royal and government venues. This is a question that should be asked more frequently as these men are in your home.
Q: Do you have a high turnover of staff?
A.: No most of our staff have been with us for many years.
Q: Can your men speak English as my last piano was delivered by two guys who could not speak a word of English (and they damaged my door step)?
A.: Yes all of our staff are English speaking. If we take on somebody whose English is not their first language then in their first six months with us they are in the warehouse training. In this time we encourage them to attend college courses for English literacy.
Q: Why are you more expensive than other piano movers?
A.: If you compare our prices to antique, art movers or quality removal companies we would be around the same. We have similar overheads and operate more expensive vehicles and employ experienced staff so obviously we can not compete with a man and a van
Q: Why is it that not all music shops recommend your company?
A.: Because most (thankfully not all) music shops would use the cheapest option available. This is the why it has been for years.
Q: Other companies state they have heated trucks but you say you are the only UK company to have heating?
A.: We are the only company to operate a temperature controlled insulated fleet of trucks, even our smaller vans have heating. The vehicles have to be insulated and heated, if not it would be like putting a heater on in a cold shed, the heat would disperse very quickly and not spread throughout the whole load area.

Q: I live in London and have been told I need to pay for a road closure to crane my piano in is this true?
A.: This maybe true if you live on the public highway. Depending on what council you have you may need a partial closure from £125 or a full road closure from £860. We usually recommend that we view the access first to determine the best way in.
Q: All piano moving companies say they have insurance what makes yours so special.
A.: Most piano moving companies have insurance but to what value? It's no good saying you have insurance but fail to mention it only covers up to £2,000 then agree to let them move your £10,000 piano. Or have your flooring damaged to learn that only the piano was covered not walls or floors. All companies have a vehicle load limit on their vehicles, the bigger the vehicle the more value it can carry. We use smaller trucks which only carry a maximum of eighteen pianos as it is very expensive to insure your load for over £500,000 on any one vehicle. Most companies have a £200,000 limit so if the vehicle is involved in a fire or a major crash the £200,000 could be divided between up to thirty people on a large truck. Our insurance covers us up to £500,000 on any one vehicle and up to £100,000 on any one piano and up to £5,000,000 public liability (floors/walls)
Q: Why do so many companies advertise as piano movers when clearly they are not?
A.: Who knows they must think it is easy money!
Q: When applying for a partial road closure in Westminster the council states for any crane move they need public liability cover over £5 million do you have this?
A.: Yes we have public liability cover over £5 million.
